From the Principal

What a wonderful end of Term 3! Swimming Carnival, Asia-fest, Stories of Colonisation Sculpture Trails and Mini-Wimbledon Finals – Term 3 is an action-packed authentic term. A huge thank you to all of our amazing staff who have worked hard this term to create, foster and support the wonderful learning sequences that have gone on.
Redevelopment Update
At a recent Project Working Group Meeting, it was shared that the timeline for the project had been moved back. We have been experiencing delays with a variety of consultants being busy (ie Bush Fire, Quantity Surveyors, Engineering). The revised plan is still to tender this year; however, no works will begin to the site this year. Works will begin at the start of 2024. We will be able to provide more clarity after a builder is selected and they can provide their schedule of works. Excitingly, we are not far from submitting to tender and applying for all necessary permits through council for building.
Stage 2, which includes a gym and car parking, is still awaiting input from Council (same as last Newsletter). I know that this is being followed up on as a matter of urgency and we are looking forward to hearing from and working with Council as soon as possible.
EAGLES – Our Cambridge Capabilities
Since our last Newsletter, we had a great feedback session with 24 students (3 groups of 8) over an entire morning. We also sought and received School Association feedback and have worked with the school Leadership Team. We received excellent feedback from our students and it reinforced that while we were 80% of the way there, we were significantly not quite right for a few key parts of our model, the explaining of it and the associated imagery. We have taken the student feedback onboard and have updated our thinking, our consultants have also been busy reworking some ideas. I have had a few meetings with our consultants and will meet with them during the school holidays to keep the work progressing. As of this week, we do think we have resolved all of the issues that we had.
Our current plan is to have a concept out to you, via the Term 4 Week 4 Newsletter. We will have imagery, explainers and a process for you to give your feedback. We are really excited to share this information with you.
Our Cambridge Capabilities are defining the very important implicit curriculum that our whole community believe are important. While ACARA mandate our academic curriculum, our flexibility and contextual adaption in what is taught to our students will live in the dispositions that we are building in all of our learners. This learning is alive in action right now, and it is extremely exciting and rewarding to see in action. We look forward to bringing the model to life for our whole community very shortly.
I’m wishing you all the very best for a restful, enjoyable and safe break.
See you all soon – Courtney.

School Association News
Our next School Association meeting will be held on 1st November at 5.30pm.
Father’s Day Stall

On 1st September the school came alive with love and laughter as the children came to shop at our annual Father’s Day stall. The stall serves as a platform for students to independently shop for their Dad or special person. The children were quite discerning when selecting their items as they aimed to maximize both the quantity of items and the overall value for their money.
Thank you for supporting our stall as we celebrate the wonderful fathers and father figures who play such a crucial role in our lives. You all helped to raise $1594.90 to go towards school initiatives.
A big shout out to the volunteers who work either behind the scenes, on the day or even both. Thanks to Ange W, Tenille, Tina S, Kelly, Amanda, Carly, Vicki & Jen. Volunteering at these stalls is a great way to bring parents together to make new friends or just catch up with old friends. It really is an inclusive atmosphere so maybe think about helping out in the future should you have some time to spare as we could really use your help.
Stay tuned for updates on all our fundraising school events and initiatives via the school newsletter or our facebook page.
